So Much in Love
I cannot thing of a more wonderful person than our mother. One sure thing, she and Dad were very much in love with each other. She had a lot of wit and saw the funny side of things. He simply was lost when he would come home and not find her there.
He would go through the house calling, "Leola, Leola, where are you?" If she didn't show up he would go on out in the back yard and if he didn't find her he would star down the street to the neighbors, "Is Leola here? hav eyou seen her anyplace?"
A Difference of Heights
Dad was so much shorter than Mother that if they ever had a picture made, mother would have to sit down while he stood beside her, or he would have her stand on the ground while he stood on the step or her in a ditch while he stood a little higher on the bank.
Water Fights!
Another exciting time would be when Dad or Mother would be standing at the sink getting a drink and maybe the other one would pass by for some reason, and they would get a glass of cold water thrown on them.
This was usually the beginning of a family water fight. It would proceed with the wetted one chasing the other outside and around the house with all the kids choosing which one to lend their support to and joining in the fun.
Family Songs
Some of my happiest memories are sitting out on the steps of our house in Thatcher in the cool, sumer evenings and listening to Dad and Mother sing and the whole family joining in on the songs we knew.
