Lloyd and the Indian Tortillas

While on our mission to Bylas among the Indians, Lloyd came to stay a few days. One late afternoon he went with some of the Indian boys to their home where their mother was preparing supper. She was making tortillas on the outdoor fire. She was making them so big and thin and [was] even by tossing them from one hand to the other, as only Indian women can.

Lloyd was so interested! She gave him a piece of dough and told him to try one. Said he, "I put the dough from one hand to the other and it stuck fast. I continued to try but couldn't get it round and thin like she could. I dropped it twice, so I thought I had better cook it and eat it before it got dirty."
