My Mom, Myrna, and Special Occasions by Laura

Some of the best times of my life are special occasions. Now you say, "Of course," but birthdays, Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, Valentine's Day, Karen's birthday, Dad's birthday, Roger's birthday, some special days we just made up in our family were all so wonderful because my Mom took the time to make them extra special.

She would always make us a cake. She would put a tablecloth and the nice dishes on the table and her best taper candles and even cloth napkins. Mom would make streamers or banners to hang around the room. She always made sure that the "honored birthday girl or guy" felt special. She really went out of her way to decorate and cook and plan. She still does to this day.

Just two weeks ago I had my 57th birthday and what did I find when I came home from the Temple? A specially decorated birthday cake in my refrigerator and a nice dinner at her house with, you guessed it, a tablecloth, her best dishes and cloth napkins on the table. It has always meant so much to me because it tells me that my Mom really loves me a lot.
