Working in the Nauvoo Temple

James [McFate] was a blacksmith and wagon maker and also owned a ferry across the Mississippi River.  James and Lucy received their Patriachal Blessings on 3 May 1845.  On 22 January 1846, he and Lucy received their endowments and were sealed as husband and wife in the Nauvoo Temple.

James spent as much time as possible working on the Nauvoo Temple.  His work was very much in demand, as the Saints were being persecuted and they were going to have to leave Nauvoo.  He was asked by Brigham Young to stay in Nauvoo as long as possible so he could make wagons for the Saints traveling west.
